Stewardship

What does this word mean to you and how does it relate to the Union or the election while you’re in the booth considering the current or new leadership? As It’s defined, it simply means the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care, such as an organization, property, money etc. When considering leadership for the workplace, the union hall, or even public office, it’s important to know how responsible an individual is in their own personal life, and at work.

That is why I included my family and work life on this website. I know and understand that if a person is faithful and trustworthy in their personal life and at work then you can trust that they can be faithful and trustworthy in the other areas as well. I feel that it is important to know that everything I would be entrusted with doesn’t belong to me and it must be taken seriously and protected for the benefit of all the members and their families. If you know a person is a good steward of their personal lives, marriage, and the items that are entrusted to them at work, then you will know their character. Strong, trustworthy leadership is extremely important to the Union, just as it is important to your own family. When considering who to vote for in the election use stewardship as a measuring tool for one’s character. You should be able to trust who is making decisions on your behalf.

Why Union?

Mentorship

I believe the most effective way to keep quality workers in our trade is to mentor them with patience and understanding. My personal story started with that kind of mentorship with my first shop foreman. Mark took time out of his schedule to show me how things worked while answering my questions (which was a lot) and even gave me some of my first tools. Through the years I have had many people take the time to teach me. That says so much about the quality of the people in our union. Now, over 25 years later, I haven’t lost that passion for sheet metal, and the members who work hard every day to provide for their families. I hope that somewhere along the way I have made a positive impact in someone’s life like so many others have in mine. I would like to carry my passion and love for this trade into the office of Business Manager, and with your consideration and vote, I truly believe that WE can work together to mentor and make a positive difference.
